I worked with the United Nations in various regional and country offices where I delivered my services as a communications expert.
I gained an extensive amount of experience in humanitarian affairs, strategic and digital communications covering humanitarian affairs coordination, public health, refugee protection affairs and climate change
Having worked for the UN in global, regional and country offices I have experience covering humanitarian crises including in Gaza, Sudan, DRC, Haiti, Ukraine, Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and many more countries.
As part of the UNOCHA global social media team I produced the 2024 World Humanitarian Day Campaign and produced daily covering emergencies across the world.
In the regional office for East and Souther Africa covering 25 countries I monitored, researched, and analysed the humanitarian situation and response in over 25 countries in Africa.
I produced public information reports such as Situation Reports, Snapshots, Key Messages, Flash Updates. I also helped manage social media pages by writing, editing and disseminating content.
My world with World Health Organization in Botswana I developed and implemented communication strategies for public health programs, including disease prevention, immunization, and health education in the country.
I led social communications and social media coverage for the 73rd WHO Regional Committee for Africa, increasing event attendance and online interaction.

Battered by storms: Cyclone Idai and Kenneth
Cyclones have become more frequent in Southern Africa due to the climate crisis. In 2019, Mozambique was hit by two subsequent cyclones that left more than a thousand people dead and a trail of destruction in their path. Millions of people were displaced and left in need of humanitarian assistance.
I edited this video for UNOCHA, a call to action for world leader and activists to come together to discuss climate action.

Content plays a crucial role in achieving business and social media objectives such as brand recognition, audience engagement, and lead generation. It's part of my work that I have found fun and fulfilling to create.
I made this Instagram reel for Kipepeo Green Heritage an environmental organisation. The memo was to create something that was not only captivating but told a story of the wonderful people we met during one of our outreach programs.
Chronicles of Climate Change and Social Media
I truly believe that voluntarism is a powerful way to engage with people and work towards development. Currently, I am volunteering with Kipepeo Green Heritage, an environmental conservation organization in Kenya, as their Communications Team Leader.
My favourite part about my work with Kipepeo is managing its social media platforms. I have had fun writing posts, editing multimedia content like pictures, videos and graphics.

People in Africa contribute the least to the climate crisis but are bearing the brunt of its consequences. Extreme weather events like storms and cyclones are becoming more frequent & exacerbating humanitarian needs.
I made this short video to highlight what people in Africa face at the hands of the climate crisis.

More than 1.7 million people in the Grand Sud region of Madagascar are facing severe starvation and food insecurity caused by climate induced back-to-back droughts. Since 2018 communities in southern Madagascar have been facing the worst drought in 40 years. With food reverses severely depleted many people now depend on humanitarian aid for sustenance.
I wrote this article at the height of the drought. My hope is to raise more awareness on this underreported crisis by writing about it.
Nairobi River in Kenya once provided clean water & livelihood for the people of Mathare Slum. Now the river is polluted by waste dumped into its flowing waters. Regardless of the state it is now Nairobi River can be rehabilitated.
Ghetto Farmers a youth empowerment group in Mathare are working towards cleaning Nairobi River. One of the many ways they have implemented in planting bamboo trees along the river bank.
I wrote a feature story about their work for Kipepeo Green Heritage.
In May 2022 I wrote a story a bout Anita, a 12-year-old girl in Class 8 at Olkaria Primary School in a far-flung region of Naivasha in Nakuru County, Kenya. Born into abject poverty, the young girl has never had the luxury of owning a pair of shoes. Her toes and heels have never been sheltered from the scalding surface heat of the ground, the cold morning frost, the jagged rocks of Olkaria’s terrain or the slippery mud during the rainy season. All her steps have been taken with bare feet.
I wrote the story as part of Kipepeo Green Heritage's fundraising campaign for children in Kenya in need of assistance with raising school fees, uniforms and stationery
